Princess Castle Cake with FIREWORKS

This castle cake is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It has a 3D fireworks show over the top of it.  You really need to see it to believe it so watch the video to see it in action.

To make the Castle Cake with FIREWORKS you will need:

Download the Surprise Cakes App from
or Get it on Google Play

The flag for the top of the cake
2 quantities of american buttercream I used chocolate buttercream recipe or you can choose a different frosting recipe here
2 quantities of the rich chocolate cake recipe baked onto 4 trays, the trays I used were 25cm (9.84 inches) x 38cm (14.96 inches) x 1.5cm (0.59 inches) tall. When baking in trays it takes 15-20 minutes per tray to bake.

Fondant – NOTE amounts listed are the actual amount that is on the cake, allow extra for rolling out
Brown fondant for the door and windows 130g (4.59 ounces)
Pink Fondant1400g (49.38 ounces)
Green Fondant for leaves and covering the cake board 300g (10.58 ounces)
Grey Fondant for path 40g (1.41 ounces)
Yellow fondant for flowers 30g (1.06 ounces)
Red fondant for flowers 20g (0.71 ounces)
Lilac shimmer luster dust
Silver luster dust
9 Chocolate Bars, the ones I purchased were 11 1/2 cm (0.79 inches) long boost bars
350g (12.35 ounces) white compound chocolate or candy melts to cover cones
9 mini ice cream cones

Make ahead:
You can make ahead your fondant door, windows and flowers and leave them on baking paper to dry out, once dry place in an airtight container and store until needed.
Cover the mini cones in compound chocolate and once set dust with luster dust, store in an airtight container.
Make the corner towers and turrets from the chocolate bars and fondant, see video for instructions. You can make these a week ahead and store in the fridge in an airtight container.

Make fresh:
Bake your cakes and make your frosting. The fresher the better but parties can be busy times so you can make 2 days before the party and decorate the day before. If making this far ahead use some simple syrup to keep the cake extra moist (see the princess cake video for how to use simple syrup)
Cut each tray cake in half and then stack with a thin layer of frosting between each layer, making sure your cakes are completely cooled before you do.
Trim the stack of cakes to make a neat rectangle and trim off each corner.
Cover the whole cake in a smooth layer of frosting and refrigerate for a couple of hours.

See the video for instructions on how to decorate the cake.

  4. Hey Ann,
I’m hoping to make this for my friend for her 21st, I’m just wondering what size cake drum you used?

  5. My completely amateur attempt at the Princess Cake for my daughters 1st Birthday.
Ann what the name and brand of the luster dust? because i tried using the silver on the door handles and i must have gotten the wrong type- as it did not work.

    • Hi Hay, you have done a brilliant job. Silver and Gold lustre powder need a very dark background to show up well. Ann used pink on her castle turrets. From the phot it looks like the silver powder is working as it should.

And the boss like the dessert, and last night he talked to me that he’s planning to open a restaurant and he ask me to make and responsible for dessert section for new restaurant or I can be his supplier to make dessert and I do it at home..I said to myself oh Wow, this is overwhelming.
