27 Christmas Cookie Recipes

Best Christmas Cookie Recipes

Twenty Seven Christmas Cookie recipes for you to try out. It’s not too late to get some baking done and get into the Christmas spirit. I can’t write this post without asking you to pray for the families of those killed in the siege in Sydney, my home town. A gunman held customers at the Lindt cafe in Sydney captive for 17 long hours before he started shooting hostages. The police responded immediately and it all ended with three dead, including the gunman. One of those killed was Ms Dawson, a barrister and a mum of three kids. It makes me cry to think of those little ones who will never again feel the comfort of their mothers words or her warm embrace. It seems so unfair. The youngest is only 4. As a country we must go on. Bake some cookies and give them to someone you love, and if you have kids squeeze them extra tight tonight when you say goodnight.

Can the cylinders of dough be made in advance and then frozen for quick slicing and baking later?

I have a challenge that I think only you can do.
I don’t know if you have ever watched the American show called Psych. In season 5 episode 12 Dual Spires they go to a cinnamon festival and the pie ? is so good they eat 7-8 pieces at a time. I have tried the recipes on line and none of them taste that good. I know you can do it.

Hey Ann, I love this recipe! I am planning on making these cookies (in halloween colors) with my sister. I was wondering if its possible to use powdered or normal food coloring instead of gel food coloring?
    Thanks so much

    • Hi Gabriella,Normal food colouring is like 1/4 teaspoon of gel food colouring mixed with water to make a whole bottle. That is it is less concentrated and has more water. So if you want bright colours you need to add a lot which will make the dough sticky and change the texture when baked. If you want a light colour and just want to add a few drop it would be fine. Powdered food colouring would be preferable.

Is it possible to half this recipe?

    • Hi Tyler yes you can

  5. i tried these and they were so delicious! i tried using crushed peppermints instead of sprinkles on one half, and they melted so it had this crunchy sugary shell around it that looked shiny and pretty and tasted good as well! a happy accident!

also, i an rather inexperienced at baking and still found this very easy, if time consuming. but i had a lot of time today so it worked out perfectly! thank you Ann and please keep adding more easy recipes. also, can you do a video for sugar cookies? and maybe some more on holiday desserts? i love them and would like some ideas for snacks at Christmas time and during other holidays.
