Thank you for the tips! First try, not half bad!

  2. Hello Ann,
i just wanted to ask can i make these flowers on a flower nail and then transfer them on a cake? instead of doing it on cupcakes?

    • Hi Fatima, You could try but as you are using a buttercream, you risk disturbing the shape.

    • Hi Fatima, I have found this helps :Piping my buttercream onto a square of baking paper on the flower nail (use a little icing to help the baking paper adhere) then carefully moving the parchment paper to a baking tray or another portable flat surface and freeze for around an hour. It will help your flower firm up to be transferred to a cake without disturbing it 🙂

  3. Love your video’s. Very helpful and informative. I have tried the zip lock bag aproach and 100% of the time the bag splits (down the sides). i know you mention get strong bags but I tried using Glad version. What type would you recommend.
    Thanks
    Darren

    • Hi Darren, Ann used the same brand so maybe the frosting is a little too firm??

  12. Hi Anne

I’m so that I subsribed to your site. I really love watching your videos and am learning all the while. But there is one thing I just can’t het straight, that is cutting the cake equally into two to sandwich with cream. I never can get to do this properly. Could you please show me how I can cut a cake equally into two please. I’ll appreciate very much. Thanks

    • Hi Zarina, you can 1. buy a cake leveler, 2. rest then end of your knife that is close to the handle on something that is the right height so that you have a guide 3. some people use dental floss – wrap it around the cake and make sure it is level and then pull until it goes through the cake. I use the second method

  13. Hi Ann I am very happy to have seen your website and I can get a lot of technique using zip bags by the way can I use Italian frosting instead of buttercream? Thank you and more power.

    • Hi leslie, you can but it doesn’t hold the details on the shape as well as buttercream does so will not look as good.

  14. Ann your cake decorations are awesome!! I am going to try the zip lock bag technique and the chocolate flowers. I will let you know how it turns out. Blessings and thank you.
