Teddy Bear Cake

teddy bear cake video ann reardon

Only one of my boys ever got attached to a particular teddy… Godfrey was teddy’s name. He has to come with us on every trip and once he nearly got lost at a US airport. The other two kids just love all teddies equally and will easily swap which one, if any, is on their bed. This teddy bear cake would be suitable for a baby shower, first birthday or well beyond if you have a special teddy.

    Hi Ann
I am wanting to use the chocolate cake recipe from this teddy bear cake for another cake and I am unsure of the quantities required.
    I am baking: 1 x 8x4inch round tin
    1 x 11x4inch round tin
Should I use the lighter cake recipe or the dense recipe? It is for a 2 tier cake that will have fondant and avenger decorations. I have the wooden sticks and round cake board to support the top tier.

    Thanks, Bree

    Hi Ann
Thankyou so much for the fantastic instructions on making this cake. It was my first attempt at baking, and I am over the moon with the results. You did however make it look easier than what it was!

Hi Ann, I’m going to try making this bear cake next week. I’m just not sure where to buy the rods for support and the cake pop sticks. I’m also in Australia, but I’m new to the world of baking, so I don’t really know where to go other than the supermarket.
    Thank you!

    • I made the cake 🙂 I didn’t know where to find rods, so I used things that had at home (metal straws, skewers), which wasn’t an optimal solution. But anyways, here is the result!

Just to say thank you for the tutorial, my daughter asked for a panda cake for her birthday. I used the heavier choc cake recipe and the butter in the buttercream made the white a little yellow, but it was delicious and fun to make.

    • Awesome panda cake, very creative. Happy birthday to your daughter ?

I made it! I had a hard time finding the right bowls, but finally found them at the dollar store of all places! His ears are a bit silty after transport in the summer heat, but I think he turned out alright! I made him for my grandma’s 80th because she makes and collects teddy bears. Thanks so much for the tutorial!

    • Looks awesome, well done, happy birthday to your grandma
