Teeny Weeny Mars Bar Cheesecake

Wouldn’t you love to see a teeny weeny supermarket? By far the hardest thing in making teeny weeny videos is the pre-prep. If I want a miniature mars bar I have to make one, I can’t just go to the shops. The other difficulty is that once it is made there is not really enough to share between the five people in our family plus extras. Usually when we have people over I always have something that I’ve made that we can eat. Imagine if I bought this to the table. That would be quite amusing… until they realized that’s all folks.

To make your own full sized cheesecake you will need:

Base:
1/2 a packet of your choice of biscuits crushed
50g (1.76 ounces) butter or margarine, melted

2 Tbsp gelatine powder bloomed in 1/3 cup cold water

750g (26.46 ounces) or 2 3/4 cups cream cheese

1 cup or 218g (7.69 ounces) sugar

3/4 cup or 190mL (6.42 fluid ounces) milk (4% fat)

3/4 cup or 180g (6.35 ounces) cream (whipped to soft peaks)

To decorate:

90mL (3.04 fluid ounces) or 1/3 cup cream
200g (7.05 ounces) chocolate
mars bars or other chocolate bars x 3

Mix together the crushed biscuits and melted butter and push down into the base of a container lined with non-stick baking paper on the base and sides.
Whip together the cream cheese and sugar until smooth and soft.
Mix in the milk. Heat the bloomed gelatin in the microwave, keep an eye on it you do not want it to bubble over. Once the gelatin is liquid mix it into the cream cheese mixture. Pour over the base and place in the freezer. Not you can just put it in the fridge to set but if you have it in a tall container like mine and want to tip it out then freezing it first is the easiest option.

To decorate: Break the chocolate in to pieces and place in a bowl with the cream. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, 30 seconds stir and then repeat 20 seconds stir until all the chocolate is melted. Allow the ganache to cool to room temperature before pouring over the chopped mars bars onto the cheesecake.

    Hi Ann,
I love these teeny weeny videos and I adore your technical abilities on top of the baking ones!
I showed one of these videos to a friend and we almost got into a (verbal) fight about whether or not you are using a real miniature kitchen aid machine, where you get your tiny eggs from and if the fridge and the oven and the microwave in your miniature kitchen really work. My friend suggested that you are using a film trick (i.e. slow motion) and I swore that you really use the small items without havig a clue where you get these small machines from.
    Could you help me?

    • G’day Corinna you are both right – there is a mixture. The oven actually does work, the light in the fridge and microwave work, the microwave really spins – but it doesn’t microwave ? I don’t think they make the technology that small yet. The mixer is turning using stop motion. The eggs however really are that small – there are no video tricks there. Hope that helps your debate.

Thank you so much for this explanation, that is very interesting.
What kind of teeny weeny eggs are they?

My best guess is you take a medical syringe and suck up the yolk then take another syringe to suck up the white. Then in a teeny weeny bowl, push out a droplet of yolk from the syringe then push out a droplet or white

I am interested in knowing where you get the tiny items to bake. Such as the eggs, wrapped items, etc. They are all so adorable. Thank you.

    • Hi Dee, I made the mini mars bar, any miniature candies such as the ones for the gingerbread house I make before I start filming the video. If you look at a mars bar wrapper there is the word mars written smaller one one side so I cut that part out out for the wrapper.

  8. Hi Ann, this is a little unrelated to the cheesecake, but are you going to VidCon Australia this year?

    • G’day Abby, I am still deciding, they have invited me to be a featured creator again this year but we have an overseas trip 2 weeks after and I am trying to figure out if I can fit it in with filming or not. ?
