Microwave: good for smaller amounts<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-590\" title=\"pumpkin in bowl for microwave\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/IMG_17251-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"pumpkin for microwaving baby food\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/IMG_17251-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/IMG_17251-1024x764.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/IMG_17251-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Place a small amount of water in the bottom of a bowl. \u00a0Add you vegies or fruit, cover with a plate or plastic wrap. \u00a0Zap on high until soft enough to puree, remember to stir a couple of times as microwaves heat unevenly. \u00a0Be careful when removing the wrap so that you do not get burned by steam.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Stewing<\/h3>\n<p>This suits foods such as apples and pears. \u00a0Peel and chop and core the fruit. \u00a0Using a cutter like the one pictured below makes this process quicker.<\/p>\n<p><img \u00a0Microwaves heat unevenly so you can end up with hot spots in the food. \u00a0Some vegetables become quite watery when defrosted, just mix with baby rice cereal to the desired
