So how do you make her sword?  Why not try making it from sugar, it will make a great conversation starter at the fancy dress party or comic con event.  And you get to eat it &#8211; there is enough candy here to feed everyone you just might need Groot to break it into little pieces for you.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gomora-sword-candy-cosplay-diy-550x947.jpg\" alt=\"guardians of the galaxy sugar candy sword\" width=\"550\" height=\"947\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-54413\" data-wp-pid=\"54413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gomora-sword-candy-cosplay-diy-550x947.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gomora-sword-candy-cosplay-diy-300x517.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gomora-sword-candy-cosplay-diy-174x300.jpg 174w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gomora-sword-candy-cosplay-diy.jpg 627w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"fn\">To make this giant sugar sword you will need<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Batch 1 for the blade <\/strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"ingredient\"><span class=\"amount\">1Kg<\/span> <span class=\"name\">sugar<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n665g (23.46 ounces) glucose syrup<br \/>\n250mL (8.45 fluid ounces) water<br \/>\nFood coloring and flavoring as desired<br \/>\nsilver luster dust<\/p>\n<p><strong>Batch 2 for the handle<\/strong><br \/>\n500g (17.64 ounces) sugar<br \/>\n330g (11.64 ounces) glucose syrup<br \/>\n125mL (4.23 fluid ounces) water<br \/>\ncolour and flavoring as desired<\/p>\n<p>Mold (I used two sets of these <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_tl?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=howtocookthat-20&#038;keywords=cake snake&#038;index=aps&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=9325&#038;linkCode=ur2&#038;linkId=965e437b3029a5562775105aa3dd94dc\" rel=\"nofollow\">silicon baking strips<\/a>).<br \/>\nWooden base then length of the sword<br \/>\nrecommended: Extra strips of wood to nail in place to stop the silicone from moving.<\/p>\n<p>Prepare your mold as shown in the video, adding extra support to stop the mold from moving. <\/p>\n<p>Place the sugar, water and glucose syrup into a pan and heat over high heat stirring until the sugar is dissolved.  Wash down the sides of the pan using a wet pastry brush.  Continue to boil until the syrup reaches 150C (302 degrees Fahrenheit).  Remove from the heat and pour into the mold.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/gamora-cosplay-candy-sword-diy-ann-reardon-550x309.jpg\" alt=\"how to make a sugar sword cosplay\" width=\"550\" height=\"309\" class=\"photo\" data-wp-pid=\"54411\" \/><br \/>\nAs it begins to set use an oiled knife to make indents and patterns in the top of the sword. Use something sider like the handle of the knife to make split in the end of the sword and in the handle. Remove the mold and repeat the process for the handle.<\/p>\n<p>Spray the whole sword in a light coat of spay cooking oil to stop it for going sticky.  Then brush in silver luster dust.  If you are not using the sword immediately wrap in non-stick baking paper followed by plastic wrap.
