If the cake fails you may be able to laugh it off and just enjoy the taste, despite the looks.  But what if you really wanted it to look good?   Here are three ideas on how to rescue a cake fail.<\/p>\n<div class=\"videoWrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uA_tcDbeY90?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Cake Rescue 1 Bunch of Flowers Cake<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/P1088738-550x413.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-97523\" data-wp-pid=\"97523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/P1088738-550x413.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/P1088738-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/P1088738-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/P1088738-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You will need:<br \/>\n600g (21.16 ounces) compound white chocolate (you can use real chocolate containing coca butter if you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/temper-chocolate\/\">temper<\/a> it)<br \/>\nnon-stick baking paper<br \/>\na few squares of milk chocolate to colour it<br \/>\na bunch of flowers<br \/>\nalfoil<br \/>\na board or a tray to put the cake on.<br \/>\nIf needed one batch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/buttercream-cupcake-frosting-recipes\/\">buttercream<\/a> &#8211; this depends on how much frosting the original cake fail had, there was plenty on the one in the video.<\/p>\n<h4>Cake Rescue 2 The Ice-cream Cake<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon-550x643.png\" alt=\"ice-cream cake recipes ann reardon\" width=\"550\" height=\"643\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-97526\" data-wp-pid=\"97526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon-550x643.png 550w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon-257x300.png 257w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon-768x898.png 768w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon-300x351.png 300w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/icecream-cake-recipe-reardon.png 1584w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You will need: 2 flat cakes, or one cake cut into two layers.<br \/>\n4L (1.06 gallons) of ice-cream<br \/>\ncookies or chocolate bars (optional)<br \/>\nA tallish round container, or you could use any shape container if you cut the cake to fit.<\/p>\n<h4>Cake Rescue 3 Chocolate Mousse Cake<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/public_html\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ann-reardo-cake-rescue-mousse-cake-550x432.png\" alt=\"chocolate mousse cake ann reardon\" width=\"550\" height=\"432\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-97524\" data-wp-pid=\"97524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ann-reardo-cake-rescue-mousse-cake-550x432.png 550w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ann-reardo-cake-rescue-mousse-cake-300x236.png 300w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ann-reardo-cake-rescue-mousse-cake-768x603.png 768w, https:\/\/www.howtocookthat.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ann-reardo-cake-rescue-mousse-cake-382x300.png 382w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For the mousse you will need:<br \/>\n6 sheets of gelatine<br \/>\nWater to soak the gelatine<br \/>\n375mL (12.68 fluid ounces) or 1 1\/2 cups milk<br \/>\n625g (22.05 ounces) chocolate (I used half milk and half dark chocolate), broken into pieces<br \/>\n845g (29.81 ounces) or 3 1\/2 cups cream, whipped (I used what I scraped off the cake)<\/p>\n<p>Put the sheets of gelatine in a bowl of water to soak and set aside.<\/p>\n<p>Place the milk in the microwave on high until it just starts bubbling (watch it doesn&#8217;t boil over)<\/p>\n<p>Pour the milk over the chocolate, leave for a couple of minutes then stir well together until it is smooth.  Pour about a cup of this mixture into a smaller bowl and add the squeezed out gelatine sheets.  Place this smaller bowl int he microwave for 30 seconds, stir and check the gelatine is dissolved.
