Bean Boozled Challenge
These beans are made to taste disgusting! Well, half of them are. The other half are delicious! The problem is that they look the same, so you have no idea which ones are about to assault your tastebuds. I talked to some other YouTubers into sharing the experience with me. Make sure you watch the video to see how it went.
Being a YouTuber is a strange life – creating recipes and filming videos every week is challenging but great fun. However when I’m on the road, it’s not always possible to pull off a new sweet creation without having access to a kitchen. That’s why I decided to do something a bit different this week.
One of the other issues YouTubers face everyday revolves around copyright. It seems the more popular my channel becomes the more copyright infringement forms I have to fill in. Facebook is the main culprit with people illegally downloading my videos from YouTube, removing all ‘How To Cook That’ branding and then re-uploading it to their own Facebook pages as if it was their own video. No links, no credit, just theft. It happens so often to YouTubers that it’s been given a name – “Rebooting”.
YouTubers work really hard to create content and share it for free online, relying on advertisers to pay just a tiny fraction of a cent per view in order to earn a living. So you can understand how heartbreaking it would be to discover my “Piping Bag Hacks” video (which has been viewed approximately 500,000 times on my YouTube channel in the past few months) has also been ripped off and viewed a staggering 13 million times on Facebook (with all reference or links to HowToCookThat removed).
Unfortunately millions and millions of cooking fans have no idea that they are actually hurting their favourite chefs and creators when they watch a Rebooted video on Facebook. It’s a bit like popping one of the gross jelly beans in your mouth … it looks almost the same but then it actually leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.
It’s great to see famous YouTubers like Hank Green and Devon Supertramp weighing in on this major issue. I was even interviewed about it by Australia’s largest newspaper daily telegraph. If you like a video on YouTube make sure you do the right thing by the creator and share it the CORRECT WAY on Facebook. All you have to do is copy the youtube URL link of the video or just click the SHARE BUTTON under the video on YouTube. Sharing a video properly on your social media is a great way to support your favourite YouTubers and it’s completely different to stealing content.
And by the way, if you stumble across one of my videos that has been stolen (press play and check if there is a youtube logo and link in the bottom right hand corner – if there isn’t, it’s stolen), make sure you leave a comment on the offending Facebook page, pointing people to the original https://youtube.com/howtocookthat . Then come over and let me know about it so I can put in (yet another) copyright claim! Thanks so much guys π
Here’s another bean boozled challenge you might enjoy… my kids eating them.
If after seeing all of that you still want to taste them for yourself, I suggest that you don’t, you can get them here.

Hi Ann,
I would really appreciate if you could give a tutorial on a healthy dessert.
thanks
That looks either disgusting or delicious! I definitely like the sound of the pear jelly beans. Could you do a computer cake? That would be awesome, thank you so much! Your videos are amazing, but I had no idea that sort of thing was occurring on Facebook and YouTube. You made the tutorials, and you should get the credit! And when you you put in so much effort, with filming, templates, and everything else, it seems really unfair that others steal your work and remove the branding. Anyway, thanks for the great video!
Hi Tara, Have you seen this ipad cake ? https://www.howtocookthat.net/public_html/ipad-cake/. Thanks for your comment.
WOW!!! That looks gross!!! But I’m happy for some of you who got nice ones! I have done that before! It was funny watching you! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Wow, I had no idea that was happening to You Tube videos. As a food blogger, it happens all the time, and it’s so frustrating. I can’t even imagine how much time it is taking for you to find all the thieves and try to get them to stop. Your videos are amazing and your projects are incredibly clever. I hope this rebooting comes to a stop, so that you get the ad revenue you deserve.
Thanks Beth for your comment.
