How To Make Chocolate Easter Eggs 2018

It is that time of year again when the shelves at the store are full of chocolate eggs. But how do you make them extra special and different to what everyone got last year? Watch the video for some fun easter egg ideas.

Nutella egg

All you’ll need is 2 jars of nutella, a large egg, a little bit of chocolate to seal and piping bag.

Geode Egg

40g (1.41 ounces) white fondant
make your own candy using the recipe below or purchase boiled sweets

Rock candy
200g (7.05 ounces) sugar
2 tablespoons of glucose syrup or light corn syrup
125mL (4.23 fluid ounces) or 1/4 cup water
Heat the sugar, water and glucose syrup in a pan stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Wash down the sides of the pan with a wet pastry brush to remove andy sugar crystals. Boil own high heat unstirred until the mixture thickens, the bubbles slow and it just starts to go golden in one area of the pan. Add the desired food coloring and stir lightly then immediately pour out into a lined baking tray. Caution this is extremely hot. Leave to cool completely then smash into chunks.

Ice-cream Egg

Chocolate eggs
vanilla ice-cream
Yellow ganache for the yolk made using 100g (3.53 ounces) white chocolate mixed with 50mL (1.69 fluid ounces) of warm eater and yellow food colour. You made need to whisk to get the chocolate and water to combine.

Rocky Road Eggs

marshmallows
peanuts or pretzels
milk chocolate melted

Kitkat egg

1 chocolate egg
ice-cream wafers
milk chocolate melted (no need to temper as it will be inside the egg)

Have fun buying and ‘pimping’ the inside of your easter eggs to make them extra special gifts.
