Chocolate Food Art Starry Night

This might be the yummiest painting ever! Edible chocolate paint in cute homemade silver paint tubes. Plus a solid chocolate palette and thin white chocolate paper. What masterpieces will your guests create and then eat?

After I posted the chocolate pencils recipe recently, I asked what artwork you would most like to see in chocolate. Amazingly, over 200 people requested ‘Starry Night’ by Van Gogh. While it looked deceptively simple at first, I quickly realised just how many brush strokes and beautiful colours went into this famous painting. Make sure you watch it being painted in time-lapse at the end of the video.

  5. Hi Ann, I was wondering how much paint you used to recreate Starry Night and if the paint for the tubes would be enough to recreate it or would more be needed? Thanks 🙂

    • Hi Mel, Ann says if you have 3 tubes of each colour you should have plenty. The quantity of ganache in the recipe is enough for the painting and tubes.

  11. Hi Ann! I was inspired by your chocolate paints that I wanted to make something similar for only one of my friend. Do you have any suggesting to about the amount of flavored ganache I should make? Also, do you have any other recommendation how I can make it a more special gift?

    • Hi Jennifer, A great way to make it seem special would be to package uniquely. Perhaps you could find an old paint box to present it in or decorate a card board box to appear old. Calculate how much choclate you would like to give as a gift and make up the ganache based on that quantity.

  12. Hey Ann, I was windering if you have any good ideas for starters with fondant. I’m 13 years old and I have been watching your vids very Friday ever since 2012. Thank you

    • Hi TIna,
I’d use oil based colouring to colour your chocolate and use the different coloured chocolate in the mold.
