Chocolate Paper and Pencils eat your own artwork

chocolate dessert paper and pencil fun

A perfect dessert for a creative evening. The paper and pencils are all made from chocolate and there is a candle to melt the pencil so you can draw to your hearts content.  Add a mini piping bag of ganache and watch your friends blank pages turn into works of art.  Snap some pics and then eat your artwork.

To make chocolate pencils and paper you will need:

375g (13.23 ounces) White Compound Chocolate, 375g (13.23 ounces) dark or milk compound chocolate for the pencils.
Compound chocolate contains vegetable oil instead of cocoa butter and has a higher melting point so it wont melt on your hands.
Candles
Unused sharpeners (not really required just for presentation)
Non-stick baking paper
Cheap plastic drinking straws (don’t buy good quality ones)
Tiles or flat plates for serving
Optional – ganache and mini piping bags

  1. Hi Ann!
Can I use aluminum instead of baking paper to make the paper?

    • Hi Olga, You could use aluminium foil but the baking paper is far easier to work with. It will give you a smoother finish, enable you to mark out the sheets easily and you won’t have to be picking bits of foil after. It wold be worth getting it.

  2. wich state in australia do you live in because i live in nsw

  3. Hi Ann, I was wondering if the modeling chocolate eraser would really work or would it just be for decoration? and if it did work, would you need a milk modeling chocolate eraser for the milk chocolate?

  4. Dear Ann,

    Awesome, awesome work you do!!

I tried to make the chocolate pencils and paper and did not succeed. Wondering if you have any tips:
    (1) how were you able to EASILY cut thru the plastic straw
    without hitting the chocolate
    (2) how she was able to cut through the
    straw straight?
    (3) how were you able to easily remove the straw away from
around the chocolate after the cutting of it down the middle to remove the
    chocolate without the chocolate breaking.

Thank you in advance and I just love your site!!!
    Elizabeth
