Step 1: Purchase the app

Step 2: Print out your markers and cut out

Step 3: Open the app and press the button for the animation you want, line up the square directly above the appropriate marker until it locks on. Once it is locked on you can move it around as long as the marker stays on screen.

Hi Kim, you can not video, just take photos. If your controls have ‘disappeared’ try closing the app (double click on your ipads round button to see what is open and close the app). Then open it again.
Hi CRhodes, the app is the same on both devices, please try closing the app and then reopening and let me know if you continue to have a problem (I don’t have an anrdoid device so can’t check it but the developer does and has checked it for me).
Is there a way to have more than one marker on a cake for multiple effects?
Hi Erin, you could have more than one marker on the cake but the app can only process one at a time so if you locked onto them one at a time it would work. However if multiple markers are on the screen at once it may get confused and flick between them
Same here I can’t take a photo with the app on my iPhone why is that ?
Hi Netty, try uninstalling and reinstalling and when it asks you for permission for the app to use your phones camera and photos make sure you click ‘yes’ or it can not take photos and add them to your photo folder.
I got the app and downloaded the patches on my phone but how do you print them out I can’t get them printed from my phone guess I wasted 3.00
Hi DJ, you can print them out on any computer follow the link on this page to download them and print. But if you do not want them for a cake and just want to play with it you can open the images on someone elses device and then use your app that way.
Hi! I’ve always followed you since the chocolate pavlova recipe! i just want to ask you, why is it that when i try to open the markers page it just opens up a grey page? I can’t even see the markers and it’s like there is no PDF. I’ve refreshed the page INNUMERATE time and it’s driving me mad! XD
Actually i managed to print them now, but the unicorn one won’t work… ;(
Hi Giovanni, I’m so sorry about the delay … Apple are being REALLY slow in approving the latest update for the app (to give you an idea, the GooglePlay version of the app has been up since the middle of last week). I’m really hoping that it is up & working within the next day or so because lots of people are waiting on it. Apologies for the hassle. Ann

I’ve watched your videos for a few months now and all 3 of my boys love watching with me. My youngest is turning 5 in 2 weeks and I’ve been contemplating what cake to bake for his Knights party. Rediscovering your castle cake and matching App with the dragons was decision made easy this morning. We’ve bought and downloaded the app and are looking forward to having great fun with it. Just a couple of questions.
Just wanted to confirm you can write a message in the scroll on the flag without stopping the app working?
Can you colour the whole flag background or just the details?
Will it work if the dragon marker is laminated?

Hi Kirrily, you can lightly colour the flag as long as the black lines are still clearly visible, and yes you can write on it. The flag is for the fireworks, use the sword in a circle for the dragon 😀
Thank you Ann! We are in the process of making the cake for tomorrows party. I thought when I originally printed the markers there were 3 markers for 3 different dragons. Now there seems to be only 1 dragon and a unicorn added. Has this changed in the past few weeks? or is it somewhere I’m not looking?
HI Kirrily it is changing as I write this. The update is in with apple awaiting review – and it is already through on google play. With the new version the dragon will be using the one marker – the one with the sword and you can choose to change to colour on screen. And the unicorn is also in the new update. If you don’t update teh app then it will still work with the old markers for the dragon that you’ve already printed.
Does the photo feature include a front-lense for the camera? I noticed that one reviewer had suggested it on Google Play.

OMG I bought your “surprise cake” app acouple weeks back and was like a little giddy child. I am absolutely in awe of it. I just showed my sister and told her that she too should download the app cause it is SOOO COOL! Yes I am a mother of a 5 year old but I think I may be the bigger child LOL 🙂

That’s fantastic kristiana, I’m so glad you like the Surprise Cakes app 🙂 We are currently working hard on the 3rd and the 4th animations … i think you’re going to LOVE both of them. The free updates should be out in the next couple of months. They are really cool.
